Face to face appointments and telephone appointments offered to provide a full benefit check. Advisers identify where there may be gaps in people's income and advise on applying. Advisers assist patients to complete benefit forms face to face/via telephone if requested by the patient. Translation services provided on site at Velindre for anyone requiring this service. Staff presence everyday on site for any patients requesting advice whilst in clinic. Advisers will complete ward visits if requested by clinical staff. Advisers support patients to access appeals, up to 1st Tier appeal. Telephone services are manned between 8 am - 12pm everyday. Full advice to include Blue Badge applications and the service can issue Foodbank vouchers. Advisers can refer in house to Psychology and Occupational Therpay services at VCC. As team, we share the same office as the CNS Team and therefore have excellent working links across the hospital. The team can also refer into specialist emotional support services offered at Velindre, including support for children. The team can also refer patients to the on site VCC Information officer for wider cancer support.
